Meet Chef Kal
Chef Kal grew up in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where food was the heart of every gathering. Surrounded by the vibrant spices, fresh ingredients, and time-honored recipes of his homeland, he developed a deep passion for cooking from an early age.
After moving to the United States, Chef Kal brought those flavors with him — determined to share the authentic taste of Sri Lanka with his new community. Every dish is made from scratch, using traditional techniques passed down through generations and the freshest ingredients available.
What started as cooking for friends and family grew into Taste of Pearl, a full-service catering company dedicated to bringing the warmth and richness of Sri Lankan cuisine to events of all sizes.

Sri Lanka is known as the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean” — and our name, Taste of Pearl, is a tribute to that heritage. We aim to bring you the very essence of this beautiful island through its food.
Together with Lacey, Chef Kal runs every event with personal care and attention. From menu planning to setup and service, we treat every occasion as if it were our own family gathering. That personal touch is what sets us apart.


Rooted in Sri Lanka, Serving Oregon
Our recipes come straight from the markets and kitchens of Sri Lanka. We source the same traditional spices — Ceylon cinnamon, fresh curry leaves, roasted coriander — and combine them with the finest local produce Oregon has to offer.
Whether it's a wedding for 300 or an intimate dinner for 20, we bring the same passion and attention to every event. Our full-service catering includes custom menu planning, professional setup, and warm, attentive service throughout.
